Tourists enjoy desert fun in Kashi during National Day holiday

Tourists are flocking to Kashi in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region during the week-long National Day holiday, enjoying a variety of activities amid the spectacular scenery of the Taklamakan Desert.

At the N39 scenic area in Makit County, Kashi, on the southwestern edge of the Taklamakan Desert, the park receives an average of around 6,000 visitors a day during the holiday.

Visitors ride desert off-road vehicles across the dunes, racing up and down the sandy slopes. They also explore the vast sea of sand on camelback and slide down the dunes on sandboards.

Beyond the desert activities, visitors enjoy performances showcasing national-level intangible cultural heritage and watch local artists use bold colors and brushstrokes to capture the beauty of the desert landscape.

The combination of desert adventures, traditional culture and stunning scenery makes the area a popular destination for travelers during the National Day holiday.
