High school students in France have protested for two weeks over inadequate school resources. The movement began in September in the Paris region and spread nationwide.

Up to 500 schools were partially or totally closed on Monday as protests escalated, with clashes between demonstrators and police reported in several cities. More than 5,000 people have been arrested since the movement began.

Some university campuses, teachers and labour unions have joined in solidarity. Students are demanding more funding for education and a fairer system. Join CGTN for the latest.
