The 2026 Beijing Forum on Swift Response to Public Complaints will be held on October 12 and 13, bringing together discussions on digital technology and people-centered urban governance. Themed "Digital Intelligence Era and People's City," the forum will explore how smart technology empowers city management and shapes modern, people-driven governance, bringing together international experts from over 70 countries and regions.
How do cities around the globe tackle the challenge of responding more quickly to their residents? CGTN Stringer hit the streets of Madrid, Spain, to ask locals about the public service platforms they rely on most. Residents highlighted applications from the Regional Transport Consortium, Madrid City Council and social security, which make transit tracking, public maintenance reports and medical appointment bookings much easier.
One resident, Isidro, admitted there is always room for improvement, and noted that "in general, we are moving forward with digitization, which is something that helps us a lot." Another local, Juan Antonio, wanted to know whether China boasts even greater efficiency in resolving public complaints and whether a complete closed-loop feedback mechanism is in place.
