Even as the National Day holiday draws to a close, Beijing’s major parks are still bustling. On October 6 alone, 573,000 visits were recorded, with the Temple of Heaven, the Summer Palace and Beihai Park ranking in the top three, according to a Beijing Daily report.
The Beijing Municipal Administration Center of Parks told the newspaper that local parks continued to innovate during the holiday by creating distinctive markets and immersive, interactive activities, aiming to transform static garden scenery into a touchable and participatory experience. The idea that “visiting parks is becoming more and more fun” has become a shared sentiment among residents and tourists alike.

Take Beihai Park as an example: Traditional snacks featuring the flavors of the southwest Chinese province of Guizhou, such as potato pies and tofu meatballs, offered a taste of the province’s rich local produce, while local intangible cultural heritage techniques including horsetail embroidery, Miao embroidery, and batik were demonstrated on-site.
Although the holiday has come to an end, the autumn splendor in the parks continues to draw visitors.
