The 50-meter-tall statue of Laozi, an ancient Chinese philosopher from the Spring and Autumn Period (770 BC-476 BC) who is traditionally considered the founder of Taoism, is a striking landmark at the Taiqing scenic area on Laoshan Mountain in Qingdao, Shandong Province.
