EV charging surges on Chinese expressways during holiday

EV charging on China's expressways during the 2026 National Day holiday ran 51.42% higher per day than the same period last year, according to the National Energy Administration.

Average daily charging volume hit 23.26 million kWh over the seven days from October 1 to 7. Expressways recorded 6.71 million charging sessions nationwide, with total volume reaching 163 million kWh. 

The figures come from 62,700 highway charging points tracked by the national charging infrastructure platform.
