China once again urges Japan to severely punish the perpetrator who broke into the Chinese Embassy in Tokyo with a knife, as a warning to others, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said Thursday.

Mao was answering a question about the first court hearing in the case of Kodai Murata, who was serving in the Japan Self-Defense Forces (SDF) when he forced his way into the Chinese Embassy with a knife.
