New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani renewed his call to abolish US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after one of its officers shot and wounded a 28-year-old man.
During an enforcement operation in Marble Hill, the ICE officer discharged a weapon into the man’s vehicle where a 5-year-old boy was in the back seat, and not physically injured. The shooting later sparked protests in the city. Mamdani condemned the incident and said he had directly urged President Donald Trump to end ICE enforcement actions in New York City.
