A riot at El Castillo prison in Mexico's Sinaloa state left 10 people dead and 16 inmates injured on Thursday.

The violence broke out during visiting hours. Authorities said nine prisoners and one visitor were killed. Local media reported that the visitor was an 11-year-old boy. Security forces later regained control of the prison, and prosecutors have opened an investigation into the trigger for the violence.
