At Wuzhizhou Island in south China's Hainan Province, visitors can do more than explore the reef – they can help restore it by planting nursery-grown corals underwater. More than a decade of restoration has raised coral coverage around the island from under 15% to 37.08%. Marine life is thriving too, with 265 fish species recorded.
