China and Pakistan will hold the Karakoram 2026 joint army training in Korla, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, later this month, a Chinese defense spokesperson announced on Saturday.
Chen Xi, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of National Defense, said the exercise will focus on joint counter-terrorism operations in high-altitude areas.
It will include unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operations, on-the-move target search and firing, and long-range sniping, as well as joint command exercises and live-force drills.
The exercise is the first joint army training between the two countries. Chen said it is expected to deepen military cooperation and enhance interoperability in counter-terrorism operations.
