Hurricane Isaias has weakened to a Category 1 hurricane after making landfall near Destin, Florida, US, as a Category 2. It is expected to weaken further overnight, but damaging wind gusts and rain will spread inland through Saturday. Tornadoes and flooding are possible in parts of Florida and southern Georgia. 

Florida and Alabama have declared states of emergency across various counties, and evacuation orders have been issued for some coastal areas. Meanwhile, schools in many locations have temporarily closed, residents are rushing to stock up on supplies and secure their boats, and comprehensive disaster preparedness and response efforts are proceeding at full speed.
