Singaporean history researcher Lim Shao Bin has spent years examining archival records and oral histories related to Japan's wartime occupation of Southeast Asia.

He said documents on the Sook Ching massacres and research into Japan's Unit 731 network in Singapore show why the region's wartime history should not be forgotten. Lim argues that remembering what happened during the occupation is essential to understanding the risks of war and preventing history from repeating itself.
