This year's Beijing Forum on Swift Response to Public Complaints will be held on October 12 and 13 at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. The core concept is "People's City, Better Life," with a focus on topics such as modernizing digital and intelligent technologies in cities and strengthening urban governance. How are different cities exploring more timely and efficient ways to respond to residents' everyday concerns? Recently, CGTN collected a wide range of questions from people around the world about China's "Swift Response to Public Complaints" system and invited foreigners who have lived in China for a long time to share thoughts and experiences.

Ekaterina Kaligaeva is a Belarusian vlogger who has lived in Beijing for eight years. She has witnessed how the city's 12345 public service hotline helps residents navigate everyday challenges, including those faced by foreigners. She shared two examples: a friend who recovered a rental deposit within a week after seeking help in English, and her cousin, who was able to check into a hotel after local police arrived with the necessary paperwork just 15 minutes after she contacted the hotline. Beijing's 12345 service offers assistance in 10 foreign languages, helping international residents access support when they need it. For Ekaterina, knowing that her concerns can be heard and addressed has made her feel more at home in Beijing—and more connected to the city's future.
