China unveiled a 500-member delegation in Beijing on Saturday, ahead of the upcoming 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games, with 312 athletes set to represent the country in its largest-ever contingent for an overseas edition of the continental competition.

The Chinese team will compete in 335 events across 17 sports at the Asian Para Games, scheduled for October 18-24 in Japan. The delegation includes 146 men and 166 women, and their average age is 28.8, with the youngest competitor aged 16 and the oldest aged 50.

All 312 athletes are amateurs from a range of professional and educational backgrounds, including workers, students and freelancers. Cheng Kai, chairman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation and president of the National Paralympic Committee of China, will lead the delegation.

Among China's leading medal contenders is para swimmer Jiang Yuyan, who will enter six events. The 21-year-old enjoyed a remarkable campaign at the 2024 Paris Summer Paralympics, winning seven gold medals while breaking two world records and setting three Paralympic records. Jiang expressed confidence in her current form and hopes to earn gold in her strongest events while setting personal bests in others.

China will be making its fifth appearance at the Asian Para Games, which follow the conclusion of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games earlier this month.
