A man died in an attack by a tiger after he entered its enclosure at a wildlife park in northern England on Saturday, police said.
South Yorkshire Police said they received reports at 1:35 p.m. that a man had entered a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster.
"The tiger subsequently attacked the man, resulting in serious injury," the police said in a statement.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service said it had sent two road ambulances and an air ambulance to the scene.
"Emergency services attended, and sadly, despite the best efforts of medical personnel, the man was pronounced dead at the scene," the force added.
Police said the tiger was not injured in the incident and remained inside the enclosure after the attack. There was no wider risk to the public, and all visitors had been evacuated.
The man's family had been informed and was being supported by specialist officers, police said.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park confirmed that a "serious incident" had occurred at its tiger enclosure, prompting the attraction to close.
The park was already scheduled to be closed on Sunday.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park's "Land of the Tigers" area features a 300-meter raised walkway that allows visitors to view Amur tigers in an enclosure with woodland, grassland and a waterfall pool.
Only around 500 of the endangered subspecies are estimated to remain in the wild.
