Salt-tolerant seepweed and birds transforms east China's shoreline into a red wonderland

Along the mouth of the Changyang River in Weihai City of east China's Shandong Province,  expanses of salt-tolerant seepweed turn the tidal flats a striking red each autumn, attracting flocks of birds to the vibrant wetland.

The red flats stretch along the coastline, while sunlight glimmers on the rippling water.

The well-preserved wetland ecological system provides a habitat for numerous waterbirds, which fly overhead, forage and move among the tidal flats. Their snow-white wings contrast with the vivid red seepweed, creating a striking natural scene.
