In Chongqing, southwest China, construction is nearing completion on the Renhe Grand Bridge along the Xi'an-Chongqing High-Speed Railway. The bridge deck sits 130 meters above the Renhe River, a major tributary of the upper Hanjiang River.
Along a mountainous stretch of the line in Chengkou County, Chongqing, bridges and tunnels account for 99.6% of the total length. Crossing a canyon more than 300 meters deep, the project required ultra-tall bridge pylons, including Pylon No. 14, which stands 173 meters high – equivalent to a 60-story building.
Crews are currently finishing binding rebar and pouring concrete. With less than 3 meters remaining before the final connection, completion is scheduled for late October.
