The Chinese mainland has condemned a remark by Taiwan leader Lai Ching-te in his “Double Ten” speech on October 10th, in which he said Taiwan needs to build asymmetric combat power to — in his words — deter war. China’s Taiwan Affairs Office described the remark as a deceptive, two-faced tactic.
