Stretching across the Huajiang Grand Canyon in Guizhou, China, the Huajiang Canyon Bridge is currently the world’s highest bridge, with its deck approximately 625 meters above the valley floor. Once a massive challenge for travelers, like those on the Long March, this kind of terrain is now proving much easier to traverse with new infrastructure. But there's more to this engineering feat than its record-breaking height. During construction, engineers discovered water flowing through the karst tunnels and explored ways to put it to use. Their solution helps supply water for nearby farmland irrigation and the bridge's own waterfall feature.
