Israeli settlers attack female journalist in West Bank

Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine was attacked while covering the annual olive harvest in Abu Falah in the occupied West Bank on October 16.

Reuters witnesses said around 80 Israeli settlers descended on the area, throwing rocks and setting olive trees on fire. Levine, who was wearing a helmet and flak jacket marked "PRESS," was beaten and had her camera and phone taken before being rushed to hospital. At least one other person was injured. The Israeli military said troops and border police later deployed to the area and fired warning shots, including toward a person they believed posed a threat. The incident is under investigation.
