Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Chahar High-Tech Development Zone in Ulanqab on Friday and was briefed on Inner Mongolia's progress in building a hub for the "East Data, West Computing" project and growing its green data center industry.

Ulanqab is turning wind, solar and cool climate into computing infrastructure. Local officials and industry representatives explain how the city is using those advantages to power data centers, and to balance server capacity with electricity and water use.
