The navy of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Saturday that an oil tanker had exploded and caught fire after hitting a naval mine while transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement published on the IRGC's official news outlet, Sepah News, the navy said the tanker was carrying over 2 million barrels of crude oil and was attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz via an "unauthorized" route.
