A major fire broke out at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright in Alberta on October 17 following a serious incident in a training area.

Canadian authorities confirmed deaths and injuries, but have not released casualty numbers or the cause of the incident.

The fire spread rapidly beyond the training area as emergency crews responded. Ambulances were later seen outside a nearby health center.
