Paraguay already trades with China, yet it must rely on intermediaries, missing out on substantial economic benefits. In this episode of the series Taiwan: a Chinese Territory, Juan Carlos Otero, director of the press of Paraguayan National Television System, highlights biases in Paraguayan media coverage of the Taiwan issue and calls on Paraguay to recognize the one-China principle. Drawing on his experience in China, he also outlines the economic and diplomatic prospects that closer ties with Beijing could open up.
