China is preserving the legacy of the Red Army's legendary 12,500-kilometer Long March from 1934 to 1936, turning historical sites into high-tech patriotic classrooms for the next generation.

According to the National Cultural Heritage Administration (NCHA), the country counts over 2,100 preserved historical sites, including 74 memorial halls, 21 national-level and 11 provincial-level monuments to martyrs, and 182 protected landmarks. It also holds 40,000 movable relics like vintage weapons and archives.

Following a spree of 55 major restoration projects during its 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021–2025), including the historic Zunyi Conference Site, 92% of the key locations are now open to the public.

Conservation work at the "Four Crossings of the Chishui River" sites is also forging ahead.

Under the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), authorities will upgrade tourist tech, standardize signs and install smart interpretation systems.

These steps aim to bring the Long March story to younger audiences through new educational bases designed to foster patriotism, revolutionary traditions and national defense awareness.
