A family of critically endangered western black crested gibbons in the Ailao Mountains of southwest China's Yunnan Province has welcomed a new baby, bringing the family to nine members – the largest group in the area. Thanks to decades of habitat restoration and conservation efforts, the gibbon population in Jingdong County has grown from just over 200 in 1986 to more than 600 today, accounting for over 40% of the global population.
