Firefighters prepare hot meals for earthquake-affected residents near the Ercun Village command center in Maru Township, Baqen County, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region.

As of 10 a.m. on Friday, 16 people had been killed and 65 others injured in the magnitude-7.0 earthquake. A total of 12,489 residents had been safely evacuated. Search and rescue, damage assessments and relocation efforts are continuing in an orderly manner.
