Shan Sheng spent over six decades living overseas. A committed advocate of China's reunification, as a trained lawyer he made a key contribution to the formulation of the Anti‑Secession Law, which was adopted in March 2005. It was a day that Shan Sheng described as "the happiest... of my life." In a further display of patriotism, he donated his ancestral home and hundreds of precious artifacts to set up a museum in his hometown. Until the day he died, he dreamed of reunification across the Taiwan Strait.
