In east China's Jiangxi Province, the Nanjishan Wetland at Poyang Lake is welcoming more wintering birds as water levels recede and mudflats and grassy islets emerge. Oriental storks, Siberian cranes, tundra swans and other waterbirds are gathering to feed and rest. Recent monitoring has recorded 34 species of wintering waterbirds in the wetland. Local authorities are strengthening patrols and monitoring while reducing human disturbance to provide a safe, peaceful habitat for the seasonal visitors.
