As dusk arrives, the Kaimen Festival celebrations start on Jingmai Mountain. Local residents gather. Men, women and children wear their best traditional clothing. They march together toward the golden stupa and ancient trees, dancing to the rhythm of drums.
Once night falls, brilliant fireworks light up the sky. Many offer prayers beside the flames, while several brave ones dance around the fire. Long after the fireworks fade, music and dancing carry on deep into the night. Every village across Jingmai has its own way of marking the occasion. If you visit during this time, you can join the parade, dance and pray alongside locals, and take part in this age-old festival.
