Xinjiang desert's giant 'power bank' helps supply electricity to homes

A massive energy storage facility featuring five colorful, 200-meter-wide circular discs has risen among the sand dunes of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Functioning as a giant "power bank" with a capacity of 4 million kWh, the station stores wind and solar energy to power hundreds of thousands of homes daily.

Designed around the natural desert terrain to minimize environmental impact, the plant has supplied over 800 million kWh of clean energy since late last year.
