China is building a 1.5-gigawatt energy project in Xinjiang that means solar power won't go to sleep when the sun is down. By combining standard solar panels with a field of sun-tracking mirrors, the plant stores heat in molten salt during the day and releases it after sunset. This keeps renewable power flowing around the clock – even during the evening peak.
