China has reiterated its commitment to open cooperation and to working with all parties to keep global industrial and supply chains stable and secure. 

The response follows German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's call on Tuesday for European and Asian middle powers to build a strategic alliance in trade, technology and security, in which he described Germany's China policy as "coming of age" while warning that full economic decoupling from China would be "a mistake." 

On Wednesday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said that the economic complementarity and intertwined industries of China and Europe make their practical cooperation mutually beneficial.
