The mainland will continue implementing a package of 10 policies and measures to help more high-quality agricultural, fishery and other products from Taiwan expand their presence in the mainland market, a spokesperson said on Wednesday.

Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the remarks at a press briefing in response to a reporter's question about an October 23 ceremony in Xiamen marking the arrival of Taiwan's fishery products on the Chinese mainland.

Chen said about 350 tonnes of specialty fishery products from Taiwan arrived in Xiamen two days before the event, and an exhibition and sales center for Taiwan fishery products was also inaugurated during the event.

The event marked another achievement in implementing the 10 measures and demonstrated that cooperation between the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Kuomintang (KMT) party and people across the Taiwan Strait could help Taiwan's farmers and fishers find market opportunities, sustain their livelihoods and improve their well-being, Chen said.

The Chinese mainland will continue to advance the implementation of 10 measures and help more agricultural and fishery products, as well as other quality goods, from Taiwan enter the mainland market, he said, adding that this would give mainland consumers access to a wider variety of fresh, high-quality and affordable seafood while bringing tangible benefits to Taiwan's farmers and fishers.

The Chinese mainland introduced the 10 measures to promote cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation on April 12, during KMT chairperson Cheng Li-wun's visit to the mainland.

The measures cover a range of areas, including exchanges between political parties, infrastructure connectivity, the resumption of tourism and passenger transport, streamlined customs clearance for agricultural and fishery products and food, and cooperation in film and television.
