South Africa's state-owned Transnet has tested a 7,600-meter freight train carrying 696 wagons. The train completed an 860-kilometer journey from Saldanha Bay on the country's west coast to an iron ore mine in the country's interior on October 18. Transnet said the train's length surpassed the previous world record of 7,353 meters, set in Australia.
