Golden autumn transforms desert-edge landscape in NW China

Located in Yanchi County, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in northwest China, the Haba Lake Ecotourism Area lies on the southern edge of the Mu Us Desert, where sandy landscapes meet forests, lakes and grasslands.

Every October, the area's small-leaved poplar trees turn brilliant shades of gold, creating a striking contrast with the surrounding greenery and blue waters. Locally nicknamed "little desert poplars" for their golden autumn foliage, these trees line the scenic roads and lakeshores, forming stunning golden corridors.

As sunlight filters through the leaves, winding roads, tranquil waters and colorful woodlands come together to create a distinctive autumn landscape on the edge of the desert.
