Two trains crashed south of the Spanish capital Madrid on Wednesday morning on the high-speed rail line to Seville. At least 69 people were killed and dozens more injured when a state-operated Renfe high-speed train smashed into the back of a stationary train operated by Iryo near the town of Urda. It is one of the worst rail disasters in modern European history and Spain's worst rail crash since 2013.
CGTN stringers went to the accident site and Madrid's Atocha station, one of Spain's most important railway hubs. Memorials have been held at Atocha station, while some trains have been cancelled and foot traffic at the station has dropped.
