Thousands gathered in Trappes, southwest of Paris, on October 30 to honor the victims of a shooting a week earlier that killed one person and injured seven others. Anti-terrorism prosecutors said the suspect admitted seeking victims he perceived as Muslim, African or North African.
The attack has fueled debate over racism and far-right politics in France. Mayor Ali Rabeh accused the National Rally of contributing to hatred toward minorities, but the party rejected any links to the suspect.
