As city skylines continue to rise, conventional fire ladders are struggling to keep up. To help bridge this dangerous gap, a new generation of autonomous aircraft is offering a bold approach to aerial firefighting.

Enter the EHang EH216-F, a pilotless electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed for high-rise emergency response at altitudes below 600 meters. Built as an aerial first responder, it integrates specialized firefighting equipment directly into its airframe. Mounted on top are launch tubes designed to fire high-precision projectiles that can break through reinforced windows, allowing the aircraft’s front nozzle to quickly spray fire-extinguishing agent into the building.

Operating close to a burning skyscraper is no small challenge. Powered by 16 independent propellers, the aircraft is designed to hover steadily even against turbulent high-altitude updrafts. In addition to fire suppression, its cabin provides a critical lifeline, capable of evacuating trapped individuals directly from upper floors when stairs and elevators are cut off.

From remote window breaching to high-altitude air rescue, this technology points to a new era in urban fire safety.
