Inflation and the cost of living were among the biggest concerns for voters highlighted during the 2026 US midterm elections.
A Pew Research Center survey found that 84% of registered voters considered the economy a very important factor in determining who to vote for in US midterm elections. Healthcare, the future of democracy, immigration and foreign policy were also major concerns.
Some voters linked rising household costs to the Trump administration's policies, including those on tariffs and the war with Iran. Democrats campaigned on affordability, while Republicans defended their economic and national security record.
