The Kuwait edition of the China's Governance and Worldwide Development Global Dialogue was held in Kuwait City on Tuesday, co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG), the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait and the Kuwait-China Friendship Club.

More than 100 guests from academic, business and media circles, as well as university students, exchanged views on China's governance experience, the alignment of development strategies and the prospects for practical cooperation.

Shen Haixiong, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and president of CMG, delivered a video address. To understand today's China, one must understand the CPC, he said, noting that the recently concluded fifth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee sent a clear message to the world: The 105-year-old Party will strengthen itself with higher standards and more concrete measures, turning the CPC's rigorous self-governance into the effective governance of China.

Citing a CGTN global poll, Shen said respondents worldwide see the CPC as having turned institutional norms for upholding Party leadership into tangible governance strengths, offering a path different from Western political parties. He pledged that CMG will continue to tell the CPC's story well and deepen dialogue and people-to-people exchanges.

Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Yang Xin said the session's arrangements for full and rigorous Party self-governance provide a strong guarantee for Chinese modernization and a successful example for countries exploring paths of governance. Noting that Kuwait was the first Gulf Arab country to establish diplomatic ties with China, he said high-quality Belt and Road cooperation has been deeply aligned with Kuwait Vision 2035, with potential for growth in trade, energy, infrastructure, finance, green development and the digital economy.

Sheikha Al-Anoud Al-Ibrahim Al-Duaij Al-Sabah, a Kuwaiti royal family member and chairwoman of the Kuwait-China Friendship Club, said the session has laid a solid foundation for China's long-term development. Marking 55 years of diplomatic ties this year, she said China's experience in smart cities, infrastructure, clean energy and digital technologies highly aligns with Kuwait's goals of economic diversification and modernization.

Panelists, including Kuwait University professors Mai AlFarhan and Anwar AlShriaan, former Central Statistical Bureau director Abdullah Yousef Sahar and Chinese business representatives, discussed long-term governance, technological innovation, economic development and environmental protection. Participants agreed that China's development practices and policy consistency offer an important window through which to understand China's governance, urging deeper strategic alignment and new areas of cooperation.

Trailers for premium CMG productions were also screened, and mainstream media outlets in Kuwait and across the Middle East covered the event.
