European left-wing political figures have highlighted the importance of the Communist Party of China's (CPC) commitment to self-reform, saying its experience in maintaining Party discipline and putting people first offers valuable lessons for left-wing parties in Europe.

"People-centric development doesn't happen spontaneously. It needs a strong party that's disciplined," said Kaivon Kjems, international secretary of the Communist Party of Denmark. He noted that self-reform enables a party to identify and address challenges within society, navigate competing interests and remain responsive to people's concerns.

Kjems said European left-wing parties could learn from the CPC's experience, stressing that meaningful efforts to address people's concerns require serious commitment to self-reform and strong party building. He added that the CPC's people-oriented approach offers concrete lessons in tackling the problems people face in their daily lives.

Adam Barbato Shoufani, general secretary of the Swiss Communist Youth, described the CPC's self-reform process as central to its commitment to serving the people.

"The Communist Party of China is serving the people, not the entrepreneurs, not the big capital, financial capital of foreign investors," he said, adding that initiating a process of self-reform demonstrates political courage.

The two shared their views with CGTN on Tuesday during the 16th World Socialism Forum in Beijing. The forum, which ran from Tuesday to Wednesday, brought together more than 80 participants from 40 countries, including leaders of foreign communist parties, prominent Marxist scholars, social activists and diplomats from foreign missions in China.
