The Cambodia session of China's Governance and Worldwide Development Global Dialogue was held in Phnom Penh on Thursday, co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG), the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia and the Royal Academy of Cambodia.
More than 150 guests from Cambodian think tanks, media organizations, businesses and universities attended the event.
Shen Haixiong, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and president of CMG, delivered a video address. Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin, Cambodian Senior Minister Sok Siphana and Royal Academy of Cambodia President Sok Touch also addressed the event.
Shen noted that the Fifth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee just concluded in Beijing, reviewing the great achievements made and valuable experience gained in exercising full and rigorous Party self-governance in the new era and making systematic plans for persevering with it.
Citing a CGTN global poll, Shen said respondents worldwide recognize that the CPC has developed institutional rules and norms for upholding and improving Party leadership, translating them into tangible advantages in national governance. This represents an effective governance approach different from Western political parties' and offers China's contribution to exploring more effective models of party governance, he said.
CMG will continue to explain the CPC's approach to governance and share its experience in translating the Party's self-governance into effective national governance, Shen added.
Ambassador Wang Wenbin said that more than 92% of respondents in China recognize improvements in their sense of fulfillment, happiness and security, while satisfaction with the government exceeds 90%. Peace and security, innovation, green development, openness and shared prosperity have become defining features of China's governance, he said.
Describing the CPC as an "empowering political party" and China as an "empowering major country," Wang said China would play an increasingly important role as a stabilizing force in a turbulent world.
China and Cambodia are true friends who share a common future and stand by each other, Wang said. China will continue to support Cambodia in pursuing a development path suited to its national conditions and stands ready to deepen exchanges on Party governance and state administration to further advance bilateral relations.
Sok Siphana said maintaining a clear strategic direction and translating long-term visions into tangible improvements in people's lives are common challenges facing all countries. Against a backdrop of escalating geopolitical tensions, China's experience in addressing challenges through strategic planning offers valuable reference for other countries, he said. Cambodia and China should further consolidate their longstanding friendship and contribute to peace, stability and prosperity in both countries and the region, he added.
Sok Touch spoke positively of China's contribution to global governance, saying the country's development experience over recent decades not only holds significance for the Chinese people but also carries far-reaching implications for the world economy and global development.
Trailers for a selection of high-quality CMG productions were also screened at the event, offering participants an immersive look at the vitality of China's new quality productive forces.
