Driscoll's taps Yunnan as its main berry hub for the Asian market

US berry giant Driscoll's is positioning southwest China's Yunnan Province as its primary production base for its expanding Asian market.

Speaking at the 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, Jae Chun of Driscoll's Global told CGTN Digital journalist Shen Shiwei that the company first established its berry base in Yunnan 13 years ago, initially serving the Chinese market under a "local for local" strategy.

Chun said the company now views Yunnan as its production base for local and regional markets. "We can now export our berries that we're producing in Yunnan to the other local Asia regional markets," he said, flagging Malaysia and Singapore as key targets.
