China's Chang Mohan produced a remarkable double-gold performance at the 2026 Dakar Youth Olympics on Friday, winning the women's 200-meter freestyle and 200-meter butterfly in the same afternoon to conclude her swimming campaign with four medals.

The 15-year-old began her golden afternoon in the 200-meter freestyle, touching the wall first in 1:59.59 to clinch her maiden title at the Games. Croatia's Ana Bobanović settled for silver in 2:01.17, while India's Dhinidhi Desinghu bagged bronze in 2:02.28.

Chang had little time to celebrate, with the 200-meter butterfly final scheduled to begin just 32 minutes after the freestyle race. Despite the short turnaround and exacting physical demands of competing in two different disciplines, the Chinese swimmer returned to deliver another commanding performance.

She clocked 2:09.93 to seal her second title of the day, finishing 3.08 seconds ahead of Brazil's Ana Júlia Amaral, who placed second in 2:13.01. Indonesia's Michelle Surjadi Fang completed the podium in 2:14.10.

The two victories marked a dramatic turnaround for Chang, who had previously come close to the top of the podium, but was not able to capture a title. Earlier in Senegal's capital, she collected silver medals in the women's 200-meter breaststroke and 200-meter individual medley.

According to World Aquatics, Chang was emotional after her breakthrough freestyle victory, but quickly shifted her attention to the butterfly final. Her determination paid off as she added another crown to her growing collection.

Claiming gold in freestyle and butterfly events on the same day highlighted Chang's versatility, endurance and ability to perform under pressure.

With two golds and two silvers, Chang finished as one of China's standout swimmers at the 2026 Dakar Youth Olympics, turning a demanding final day in the pool into the defining moment of her campaign.
