Growing demand among Chinese consumers for high-quality and sustainable food is creating new opportunities for Irish food exporters, Ireland's ambassador to China, Dr. Nicholas O'Brien, said in an interview at the ninth China International Import Expo (CIIE), held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10, 2026.
The ambassador highlighted the CIIE's role in helping Irish producers showcase their products and reach Chinese consumers. He also noted that annual trade between China and Ireland stands at around 40 billion euros (approximately 300 billion yuan), expressing hope for further growth in bilateral trade and investment.
