A stunning 3-0 defeat of second-placed Atletico Madrid against Real Sociedad on Thursday has placed Barcelona just one win away from the 25th La Liga crown.
The 12th placed club made a promising start at home against their fancied rivals and took the lead when Willian Jose scored from a cutback by former Manchester United player Adnan Januzaj in the 27th minute. Shocked by the early goal, a disarrayed Diego Simone's side failed to gather any momentum and allowed the hosts to dominate much of the match. Towards the end of the game, substitute Juanmi made it 2-0 as he scored at the 80th minute. He got his second goal in the stoppage time as Sociedad sealed a morale-boosting 3-0 win against the Madrid side.

Atletico's defeat means Barcelona needs to register a win at Deportivo La Coruna on April 29 to regain the La Liga title they conceded to Real Madrid after finishing three points behind their arch-rivals in the last season.
Atletico, who are 12 points behind Barcelona with five games remaining, are still second in the league and will travel to Arsenal in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final on 26 April. Meanwhile, the win moved Sociedad one place up – to 11th – in the league table on goal difference.
