The Chinese economy is an important engine of growth for the world. It’s now going through structural reform. How well the economy would do has a lot to do with how Chinese companies are transforming themselves, especially the big ones.
"It's painful, but it's our responsibility, we should do that," said Xu Niansha, a CPPCC member, and Chairman of the Board for the Poly Group, a Fortune 500 company from China.
Tian Wei had an interview with Xu ahead of the Two Sessions. Xu told Tian that his organization has to take the lead in cutting ties with the past for this transformation and do it efficiently. Because it is a key state-owned company, it has to follow government calls to set an example for the others.
"For the state-owned company, we have to obey the state's order and plan, give you an example, we quit from the coal business, so we transform a company who own the 27 billion Chinese Yuan assets, we transform the assets to another company freely."
This year marks the 40 years Reform and Opening-up in China. Xu gave a summary of the experience that would be helpful for China's future.
"Without Chinese Communist Party, or without Deng Xiaoping, without Xi Jinping, like the kind of leader of our Party, we cannot imagine the open policy, we cannot imagine the modernizations, we cannot overcome so many barriers, difficulties and situations..."
He said that Chinses people have a lot of dreams. "Even our staff, the employee in the Poly, the China dream, the Poly dream, even the personal dream."
