China has lodged serious representations to India, urging it to immediately withdraw its border guards who have crossed the China-India boundary, said Geng Shuang, the spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, at a press conference on Wednesday.
China and India have been engaged in a stand-off in the Donglang area for the past 19 days after a Chinese army's construction party came to build a road.
Earlier in June, Geng confirmed the border incursion, saying Indian border guards the "obstructed normal activities" of Chinese frontier forces, adding China took counter-measures and thoroughly investigated this matter.
The act by Indian border troops was "very serious," said Geng, who reiterated the withdrawal was the foundation and precondition in solving the issue.
